In Game Description:
Hiding in shadows is easy, thanks to the included portable shadow generator. Sneaking around in it's area of effect makes it substantially easier to avoid fights.

Now, why the monsters aren't suspicious of a shadow moving around on the plains in broad daylight is left as an exercise for the reader.
